Modelling of cardiovascular disease

Research outline

My objective is to build a computational model of neointimal hyperplasia, a cardiovascular disease that develops in arteries which have undergone surgery. This is done using multiple techniques to describe the different aspects of the disease: blood flow behaviour is analysed using Computational Fluid Dynamics software, while cell growth is modelled with ordinary differential equations. The model will enable a better understanding of the disease and its mechanisms, as well as forming the basis for the creation of a predictive model of disease progression and response to surgical treatment.
