Incidences of oil spill has been a common phenomenon in the oil and gas industry with huge environmental implications; while Sorbent is known to be an effective method of cleaning up these spills. The commercial available polypropylene sorbent fabricated using melt blown technology has been shown to exhibit low sorption capacity and poor oil water selectivity, than fibres fabricated using electrospinning process. My project focuses on an in-depth study into the use of these electrospun fibrous material as sorbents in oil spill remediation.
