Measuring Aortic Annulus Size and Physiological Compliance using a Soft Robotic Balloon Catheter


Andrea Palombi holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering (University of Florence, Italy) and an MSc in Mechatronic Systems (Kingston University, United Kingdom). He gained industry experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in companies such as Nuova Gidue s.r.l (now BOBST), a Florentine company that produces printing and converting machines for the label and packaging industry, and NG Bailey, a British engineering consultancy. Since January 2017, Andrea has been a member of the Soft Haptics Lab and the Cardiovascular Engineering Laboratory within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UCL. His main research interests include robotic technologies for minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery, low-cost hand prostheses and haptic devices.
