Research outline

Development of sustainable biodiesel from waste coffee grounds


Ioannis is a Chemical Engineer with a strong interest in renewable energy and especially in the utilization of waste streams for biofuels production. As a Biotechnology MSc graduate from the University of Manchester, he has advanced research and analytical skills and has worked on projects related to biodiesel and bio-butanol. Ioannis has previously worked for the Greek Institute of Geology and Mineral Exploration, in the field of biological treatment of wastewaters and is currently doing a PhD at University College London. His project involves the development of sustainable liquid fuels from waste coffee beans and comes under the department of Mechanical Engineering.
