Navigation and guidance of unmanned surface vehicle

Research outline

The investigation and development of the navigation path planning and optimaisation algorithm for unmanned surface vehicles.


I received my PhD degree in Marine and Control Engineering from UCL in February 2018. Before the PhD, I studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering with B.Eng (hons) degree at Northumbria University and Power Systems Engineering with MSc degree in our Mechanical Engineering Department. I like to spend my leisure time reading and cooking.

My research involves developing path planning algorithms to address practical problems, such as minimising the environmental influences and regulation compliant collision avoidance, together with experimental verification using test platforms both within UCL and at partner. The algorithm will be used, initially as the navigational advisory system for the USV to perform a set of predefined tasks. Eventually it will form the core of the autonomous marine navigation system.
