Short Biography
Andrea is a Senior Lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department, deputy chair and committee member of the Fluid Mixing Process Subject Group of the Institute of Chemical Engineer (IChemE), and since 2015 he is UK Delegate on the European Federation of Chemical Engineers, EFCE – Working Party on Mixing.
He received his 5-year degree (Laurea) in aeronautical engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy in 1999. He subsequently obtained his PhD in 2004 with a study of the viscous dissipative scales of stirred reactor flows from the Mechanical Engineering Department of King’s College London, where he was appointed a Research Associate from 2004-2007 to apply advanced laser techniques for the study of fluid mechanics in stirred vessels. In 2007 he obtained a 5 years Advanced EPSRC Fellowship to study the engineering characteristics of Shaken bioreactors. He joined the mechanical engineering department in August 2009.
